During the researching process, there are lots of new information for me to receive. The idea of sustainability is kind new to me because I always work with new and fine materials. Although during last semester, I was in sustainable system class, I still have no experience with doing things on my own. I researched on how people renew their t-shirt; also, I focused on a cultural aspect of renovation. The way that people renew their clothes gave me a general idea of my design. I want to create a top which does not look like it was made from t-shirts. After having a design on my hand, I had a long time of thinking with the part of t-shirts should be used for my garment. I used one of sports t-shirt to cut my back and one of my sleeves pieces. There have words on top of it which I found the most interesting part of this sports T-shirt. In order to be symmetrical, I cut out another t-shirt, which also has words, to be the other piece of a sleeve.
It is a difficulty to manage colors within those random t-shirts. However, I found the same color that they share is black and white. Moreover, only black and white looks boring; thus, I decided to use the red color which appears on one of my t-shirts to create the vivid feeling. Knowing that we could not use other materials, I collection those wasted red little strips to make the connection between neck part and the top. After all, I found that the connection part of the sleeve does not look nice; thus, I used the stitch method which I explored during the research process to hind the connected edge.
